So, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, Christmas is coming (talk about stating the obvious, ha!) and that means it’s soon time to pig out on Christmas dinner. Yum! Except, sometimes Christmas dinner can be tricky if you have intolerances or allergies which prevent you from eating the usual festive foods.
I’ve had tummy trouble for the past year and have had to remove gluten containing foods from my diet. However, this gives me a Christmas dinner problem. Stuffing mixes contain gluten. Gravy usually does too. Ready to roast potatoes are often coated in flour. Ok, so you can make your own gluten free roast spuds, stuffing and gravy too. It’s not as convenient but it’s doable.
Yorkshire puddings though?! Oh how I miss a good yorkie pud! They’ve always been my favourite bit of a roast. I’ve never tried making gluten free ones but I’ve heard they’re very hard to make.
So when I saw Tesco advertising gluten free Christmas food, including gluten free yorkshires, oh that makes me happy! I just had to get myself some.
They are ready made so you just pop them in the oven, straight from the freezer, for three minutes before serving. Which is super easy. They can be found in the frozen free from section, so you could grab some now and be all ready for Christmas. Brilliant!
Of course, there’s much more to Christmas food than this. As much as I love them, I’m not writing a blog post solely about Yorkshire puddings! There’s also gluten free profiteroles, Christmas cake, mince pies, cookies. I think these double chocolate chip cookies will be perfect for putting out for Father Christmas on Christmas Eve. Well that’s if they make it to Christmas Eve, I’ve bought these before and they’re very nice as are the Tesco Finest Free From Triple Chocolate Cookies.
I love Tesco Free From food. They have so much more choice than other supermarkets do and I’m glad they’ve added to the range in time for Christmas. My only wish is that they keep some of these new products and sell them all year round. I’ve never seen gluten free Yorkshire puds in any of the big supermarkets until now. There’s a gap in the market there, Tesco have filled it and I hope they keep it filled. Yorkie puds aren’t just for Christmas!
I am a member of the Tesco Orchard community and received vouchers to try these products for free for the purpose of reviewing them. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.
