This time last year, my boys had discovered Fungus AmungUs and both loved collecting FunGuys and squishing them in their Toxic Chambers.

Since then new Fungus AmungUs toys have been released and my eldest loves the Yuck Truck and Exgerminator. The Yuck Truck has sound effects, spins the FunGuys around and has a moving hammer to squish them. Whilst the Exgerminator has a moving track which sucks them up, squashes and traps them. It also has sound effects and a flinger to fling your FunGuys.

Partitioning numbers is taught in Years 2/3 and involves separating numbers out into units, tens, hundreds, etc. Once children have mastered partitioning 2 digits (tens and units), they’ll move onto 3 digit partitioning (hundreds, tens and units).

It’s important for calculation because it helps children break down larger numbers into numbers that are easier to work with. I remember learning partitioning, sat at a desk with endless worksheets. With magnesium, potassium and vitamin C, bananas are full of vitamins and minerals. Great for a growing child but how do you get a child who doesn’t like bananas to eat bananas?

My youngest hates them and I don’t blame him, I’ve never been a fan either. However, he does like cake! So I combine the two and make him these tasty banana and chocolate chip muffins. Obviously a straight up banana would be healthier but surely a banana muffin is better than a straight up cake!

At the weekend, we took the Mini Robots to Toys R Us to spend their pocket money. This usually results in them choosing another set of Lego which will be built once and stay together for five minutes.

I tried to steer them towards something different. Big Robot was keen on buying a game, one he’s seen at school but never had a chance to play as 29 other children get there first. So we came home with Shark Mania, the shark chomping race game by Spin Master.

In Shark Mania you grab the gold before the shark strikes. Roll the dice and make your choice, grab some gold or run from the shark? Grab as much gold as you can but watch out! There’s a shark chasing you. If you’re too slow it will knock you into the water!
